Just downloaded it and blocked a number that's been calling me repeatedly over the past few days. Will give it a try. Been having a series of international terrorists making threats against me and my town unless I wired money. Authorities don't seem to be interested in apprehending any of them.
But my tracfone is NOT a smart phone. Does that mean that there is no way for me to block spam calls? Yes, that means that you cannot block spam or any calls. I, too, have a non-smart tracfone. I have selected a ring tone from the list for No Caller ID and also the same ring tone for Restricted Calls although, I don't know what these are. Most people on my Contacts list will ring with the Caller ID ringa few have special rings that I have assigned to them. Hi Just wanted all you people to know that tracfone at one time did have a cell phone that blocked calls in it's menu.
Since they up grated to 3g the phone has since been discontinued. If I could find a service that still provides 2g I would go back to using the older phone in a second and dump tracfone.
How did it work for you? You can set it to where you only get text messages from people in your contacts. I haven't tried phone calls yet. However I only use it as a secondary phone in case I don't have service on my other one. That's because the TracFone uses Verizon towers. I bought the cheapest TracFone available at Walmart.
There's a setting inside it to turn off text messages from everyone except for your contacts. I haven't looked for phone calls yet but I'm sure it's in there as well. However you could miss a call from someone who's not in your list. I personally only use it as a backup phone when I don't have service because the TracFone uses Verizon towers and my smart phone doesn't. Sometimes pictures come that way and i cant open them. Other times, if someone is simply sending a text message to me AND some other people at the same time, it comew to me as an MMS and i cant open it. What's the cause and resolution? Had the same problem and checked online. The Moto has slide switches there for 'Cellular data' and 'Set cellular data limit'.
Bingo, picture my daughter texted me yesterday showed up today. No more "MMS is disabled" messages! For some reason it failed this time around, and I was forced to use the fastactportal. Still unsure about it being a third party website, but the info seemed legit, and nothing malicious has happened so far. RE: Bonus. Bonus used to show buckets on webpage and send text message to phone. Now it just shows buckets on webpage.
To whom it may concern. Only recently has the app been updated and is mostly back to normal. Although it has a bug. Restarting ur phone can wipe the app. To get it back. Open the tracfone app in the app drawer, make sure ur logged in, as it signs u out.
Without closing the app yet, click home button. Go to ur widget and click the login or update. It should come back. FYI the stay logged in feature in the app, has never worked.
I do have a question - I don't see an article about the 2G Conversion which is forcing us to buy new phones that are now 4G. How long does it take TracFone to actually switch the number over to the new phone? At least that has been my experience since I have one of each to ensure connectivity while traveling here in the Southwest US. Is there a way to get a text message? This utility used to send a text message with the same information except for service end date but it doesn't do that any more.
I don't use my phone very much, so it's easier for me to just look at the last text message I got after I requested the info. It would be nice if things worked like they used to, but it seems that Tracfone has changed several things around, and the links that I used to use don't work any more, or they don't work the same any more. To do this, select the option on your phone to view all apps, and then look for a list of widgets, and select the Tracfone My Account widget.

I was misinformed by a customer service rep that did not know?? I'm assuming when you say straight, you mean straight talk. TracFone will not change a straight tlak phone to trac phone due to they own both services. You have to buy a trac phone. I'm glad I could find the answer here. Every time, I use their forum to ask a question regardless of what the question is , the answer I'm given is "Check your inbox for a private message" - which, invariably, tells me to go into chat to pose the question.
In fact, that's one of the problems with the Tracfone forum. I just scanned a bunch of questions. Still don't know my balance. When I've tried to download a tracfone app, it hasn't worked.
I logged into the website but clicking on "Check balance The URL given as option 3 didn't work, nor did the bonus option. I've been down this path before with my parents -- they decided they didn't want or need to learn about computers back when they were less ubiquitous than now.
They also decided they do not need a cell phone. They are no longer traveling in their 90s but at the end it was becoming difficult -- couldn't print out their boarding info, luggage tags, etc. But bigger issue, they had no real way of communicating with their only grandchild whose main methods of non face-to-face communication are texts.
My father wanted the paper. We both had carry-on luggage so we went straight to the gate instead. I had downloaded both boarding passes to my phone so was able to scan us through the turnstiles into Security at Manchester Airport. Reminds me of people who resisted the introduction of the automobile, you can but you will eventually get run over. Eventually, businesses will not accommodate you anymore just like they removed places to tie up your horse. Pardon me if this is a dumb question, but having the ability to obtain QR codes considered "data"?
I have the choice of a plan that is phone only or a plan that is "talk, text, and data". The "phone" only is what I prefer. But, I suspect, the need to be able to obtain QR codes in the future will become increasingly important.

The times, they are a-changing. I have maps. I think it uses GPS to locate me, and shows me where I am on the map, so I can figure out the rest myself. It's a great app. Of course you have to download the maps ahead of time. Not sure you have this in Canada but I use Tracphone.
They have older models of I Phones available.. I bought mine at Best Buy. You might see if something like that would work for you. Much appreciated. DH and I are total dinosaurs when it comes to tech and data stuff.
We were quite happy with our pre paid flip phones, but eventually had to cave in and buy a smart phone. Not too smart, but smart enough to let us book in to shops, cafes, banks etc using the QR code system here on the far south coast of Australia. We do have a laminated personal QR code but the business has to have a separate reader to use this, so the phone is a must. He then argued with us that he did not have to provide an alternative method of booking in.
Needless to say we no longer go to that particular establishment and let everyone know why. But we did decide we had to get a smart phone. Very basic one but have learnt how to use WhatsApp which is great, and with the pre paid system we use we get a lot of free data so can check the news or the weather when out and about.
Beautiful day here, after a few very wet days. In the US, the major carriers and the minor ones, or at least most of them tag off them are getting rid of 3g. So make sure you get a 4g phone! The androids are pretty easy to use. There is usually help right on the phone. Google and YouTube are your friend as is your carrier. Minor problems usually get sorted out by a a restart just like your computer. I was thinking of buying a Samsung phone which has the Android operating system.
But I do everything else on my IPad. Since they are 2 different operating systems they will not sync. Otherwise I would also have had to buy a new Samsung tablet. It's real. All the 3G frequencies are being repurposed to accommodate 5G. Cellphone carriers have all announced the dates they're discontinuing 3G service.
Even Amazon got hit by this. I was given a free Samsung and gave it back. If you are a dedicated Apple user you won't like Samsung. Plus Apple is developing more and more privacy features - I like that. My 7 is 5G but I would not recommend a 7. It is a good phone but it will be unsupported in a year or two at best. The 6 is now being removed from support. You can still use an unsupported phone for basic phone calls, texts and internet. I called and after futzing with various choices, eventually got to an operator.
According to her, the system says my phone is not VoLTE compatible and there is nothing else to do. End of story. I do have an SE that I bought in France.
Happy new year. All very confusing. I suspect my old iPhone 4s originally on Verizon will no longer work on TracFone at the end of the year Will current TracFone sims for Verizon work or is there some volte specific sim needed? Will the new one being volte compatible work or will I still have the same problem? As you can tell I am a bit confused by the whole cell network stuff and TracFone has been great but support competence is not a strong point for them.
Good questions. The Tracfone iPhone will most likely use the Verizon network. Verizon and ATT are investing in improving coverage in Alaska. If you return to alaska, you may see better coverage. If you buy an unlocked iPhone and you need service for you visit, assuming you are staying a few weeks or so.
